Correlation of Computed Tomography with Pathological Features in Angiomatous Nasal Polyps
BACKGROUND Angiomatous nasal polyps (ANPs), also known as angiectatic polyps, have rarely been reported in the literature. ANPs are characterized by extensive vascular proliferation and ectasia. ANPs can grow rapidly and exhibit aggressive clinical behavior that could simulate malignancy preoperatively, and they are easily confused with other diseases. In the present study, we analyzed the corr...
متن کاملThe clinicopathological features of sinonasal angiomatous polyps
BACKGROUND Sinonasal angiomatous polyp (SAP) is a rare subtype of sinonasal polyp that might be misdiagnosed as a malignant lesion due to its clinical symptoms. METHODS We retrospectively enrolled the patients who were diagnosed with SAP in our hospital during 2008-2015. We analyzed the clinical symptoms, radiological findings, and pathological features of all patients diagnosed with SAP. R...
متن کاملAcute cerebral demyelination: clinical and pathological correlation with computed tomography.
A 30-year-old woman died eleven weeks after the onset of an acute illness during which she developed quadriplegia, dysphasia, incontinence, confusion, emotional lability and gaze palsies. The CT scan demonstrated large white matter low attenuation lesions with no mass effect and minimal contrast enhancement. At necropsy the lesions were shown to be those of massive cerebral demyelination.
متن کاملComputed tomography and pathological findings of five nasal neurilemmomas
OBJECTIVES Neurilemmomas are benign tumors deriving from Schwann cells of the nerve sheath. They occur in all parts of the body. The highest incidence of neurilemmoma is in the head and neck region (38-45%), but involvement of the nose and paranasal sinus is quite rare, with only sporadic cases having been reported in the world literature. Fewer than 4% of these tumors involve the nasal cavity ...
متن کاملCorrelation analysis of prognostic and pathological features of patients with chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps following endoscopic surgery
The aim of this study was to evaluate the therapeutic value of pathological indicators to predict the efficacy of endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) with nasal polyps. A total of 53 patients with CRS with nasal polyps, who had undergone endoscopic surgery at least one year before, were surveyed for their clinical symptoms. Surgical specimen biopsies wer...
